I held a huge party at my store the day William and Kate got married, and today everyone still talks about that great party! I love every aspect of England, but mainly the countryside. If I could pack up and move there tomorrow, I would indeed! (Shhhh don't say that to my daughter, she gets very upset.)
My outlet of my love for England is thru my store. I visit England and love going where the locals go, and pretend to be a local while I'm there. Everyone that knows me laughs and really don't understand why I love England so much! Maybe I was a Brit in another life... If so, I'm sure I decorated my English Manor in the Countryside just like I decorate today!
I've been in the antique business for the past 24 years, owning a previous store in my hometown of Pawhuska Oklahoma. I've been doing decorating for people for longer than I can remember, and have memories of cutting out contact paper when I was little to redecorate my dollhouses. My barbies had the best decorated homes around!
I live in a historic home, so there is ALWAYS something breaking, and I'm always wanting to change things especially after I get a project fixed. This is the fun side of me. I also have a business side.
I have been involved in many business aspects in my hometown. I was nominated as Woman of the Year by the Journal Record in 2000, voted "Best of the Best" by the Governors Conference for Women in Business, served as President of the Chamber of Commerce , Vice President of HEEKO, Vice President of the Osage County HELP Workshop Vice President of the Osage County Senior Citizens board, Alumni President of Kappa Alpha Theta in Osage County, have served on the Wes Welker Foundation, served on the Heritage Hills Historic Preservation board, won BEST of the BEST antique store by Oklahoma Magazine in 2010 and 2011, was featured in the March-April edition of Inspired Home magazine, and many other awards and community organizations in the area. If I don't donate my time to organizations, I make sure I donate my merchandise to an organizations event to be of some help. I'm a firm believer in "giving back".
I have always had a love for the United Kingdom. I cried when Princess Diana got married, and literally wept myself to sleep when she passed away. I've spent hours standing on the grounds at Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace just daydreaming about how life in England would be for me!
